The Thunder Call

all the laurels leaves are dying
how long till the day’s
end how long until
the earth takes back what
we have stolen turns it
to a rusting desert and the sun
begins to swallow;
life-giver turned black hole
empty my whole universe
into the abyss
there’s not much left to take
not much left in my stomach only
ashes and a lament for
thunderstorms who decided
growing up meant
falling asleep? when did
death go from far away to a
looming greyness above our heads all
the laurel leaves are dying,
how long till the day’s end?

where did my soul go to whom
did it get sent?
